This large typographic poster advertises a public festival held in Kinnaird Hall, Dundee, on 9 August 1871 to mark the centenary of the birth of Scottish novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott (1771–1832). Chaired by Provost Yeaman, the event featured readings, addresses, music, and vocal performances by prominent local and religious figures.
