The object’s story
Object Description
This poster advertises The Admiral Speaks, a patriotic wartime drama presented at Dundee’s King’s Theatre and Hippodrome during the First World War. The programme combined drama with a variety bill featuring musicians, comedians, acrobatic performers, and “Latest Films from the Front.” Prominently displayed patriotic slogans and naval signal flags reflect the strong influence of wartime themes on popular entertainment in 1914.
