The object’s story

Object Description

This poster advertises The Hairdresser, a comedy starring Bob Stevens at Dundee’s King’s Theatre and Hippodrome. The variety bill also featured singer Marjory Dawson, acrobats Bros. Werds, Scottish humorist Jock McKay, and wartime newsreels advertised as “Latest War Films.” The bold red-and-blue design exemplifies the visual style of early twentieth-century music hall advertising.
