Playbill
This surviving playbill promoted Insurrection of 1745!, a musical and dramatic spectacle celebrating the Jacobite Rising and Prince Charles Edward Stuart. Featuring a large cast of Scottish singers, actors, dancers, and more than sixty local Dundee youths, the production combined patriotic storytelling with music, dance, and elaborate staging. The worn condition of the playbill reflects the ephemeral nature of Victorian theatre advertising, few examples of which have survived.
