Transcription
The postcard is worn and some words are obscured by the postmark, but the text appears to read:
To Pennycook’s Pavillion
Take this P.P.C. o’ mine
Give it to Comedian Lackie
For the Days O’ Aul’ Langsyne
Whaur he blaws his pipe & chanter
Through his most mysterious bag
At Pennycook’s Pavillion
Whaur the pictures never flag
I have heard comedians singing
What claimed to be Scotch born
I have heard them blaw the bagpipes
When they couldna blaw a pooch
But a sweeter pipe has cheered
At some grand picture-show
Twas the voice o’ Geordie Lackie
Frae the land o’ kail brose
Twas thy tongue satiric Geordie
And it made the gaidest smile
The woad cheered the heartiest crowd
O’ Ayrshire to Argyle
