Postcard
This postcard combines personal correspondence with playful Scots verse. The writer jokes about Geordie Lackie’s whereabouts, suggesting he may be “doing a bagpipe turn” in Broxburn, and pokes fun at the similarity between Broxburn and Broxbure.

Geordie Lackie, Picturedrome, Broxbure?
O’ that address I’m no very sure:
I never heard o’ siccan a place
An’ nae gazeteer o’ it has a trace.
Perhaps he is doing a bag-pipe turn
In the little town they call BROXBURN
In which case you will find him there
And Broxbure may gie thanks in prayer.
