Postcard
This postcard was sent to entertainer Geordie Lackie and features a humorous handwritten message in Scots. The writer playfully questions the address “Broxbure”, suggesting that Lackie might instead be performing a “bag-pipe turn” in nearby Broxburn.

Dear Geordie
You will see from the front what is behind & understand why I only send you a P.C. As I have said, I never heard of such a place, but I suppose your own name not to speak of your fame – would find you anywhere. But we don’t want to give the post office chaps any more work than we can help, unless we also increase their sala – wages I should say. Write by return if this does not reach you & I will send a letter to the correct address. Ever as before,
F.
